Cover Models

Digitally based e-publishing has revolutioned the way in which readers and authors connect. However one thing cannot be escaped in this fast changing environment – you still need a cover image.
“You can’t judge a book by it’s cover,” if only that were true.
There are many challenges faced by indie authors and pehaps second only to editing, is the need for a great cover image. With so much hard work and energy put into creating characters and crafting the story, it can be a major brainache with all that done to start thinking of cover art.
Ideally any author would love to have a team of graphic artists, models and photographers at their disposal. However this sort of attention is reserved for the ‘elite’ best-selling authors. So what does a poor struggling indie author do?
I’m sorry to say, I have no idea. But now I get to the fun part of why I’m writing today.
As you may or may not know, I own and manage a small boutique entertainment agency. Becuase of this I often find myself surrounded with beautiful people. (And I don’t just mean good-looking.)
Back in January I organised a photo shoot for a couple of girls who do a particularly saucy show. We did mainly studio shots, then dashed up the road to a great venue for some location shots.

While reviewing the shoot photos for what we would use in promotional materials I was stunned to realise that in costume for the location shoot, these girls were the epitome of my two main characters in my WIP. Excitedly I look through the remaining location shots. Again and again I saw my two main characters.
I could hardly contain my excitement at the potential these girls offered as models.
When I told them I wanted to use them as models for my next book cover, I couldn’t tell who was more excited; me or them.
With a great photographer, hair and makeup artist on board, and now with hand-picked models; all is set to create the cover for my next book.
Now for the tricky bit…
I have to find some time away from work to get the damn book finished and ready for publication.
